[from newsletter 7]I believe that this last Summer was the fastest Summer on record. What may account for this is that so much occurred, there was hardly any time to watch it go by. For example: No sooner did our Spring Hambleche finish up (replete with two days of snow!) than many of our community hit the road into Sundance season. We were honored to have many family members in both the Yoncalla and Pilot Rock Sundances.
- Floyd Hand came through in the Spring and lit the place up with his teachings. We are fortunate to have knowledgeable elders willing to share their wisdom so freely. On this line, our sister community "Descendants of the Earth" invited Fred to come down to Oxnard to share his work with them. I was honored to be the driver so I got an opportunity to sweat and commune with them. Fred and I were both impressed and honored to be in such a prayerful and focused group of folks. Also on this line: Barbra Omaha came up and held a sweat hosted by Verlinda Montoya and Peggy Mers.
- Satsong Ranch has gifted Seven Circles Foundation a 30-foot tipi. We christened this last Spring, and since then it has been the enclosure for a number of ceremonies including a prayer circle for a father and son day sponsored by Holos Institute, a birthday ceremony for Keegan Stoll-Young, a healing and gratitude ceremony for Christine Silva and a ceremony sponsored by David Rose. We would like to thank Satsong Ranch, Kristina Flannigan and Jerry Perkins for their deep generosity; and while we are thanking Satsong, we would also like to thank them for the wonderful 18 months of hospitality they extended to us to conduct ceremony on their Ranch. Many fine prayers were set out on their land, and I hope that these prayers echo blessings on them for the years to come.
- Walter and Jane Camp are also due a huge helping of gratitude for hosting our Spring and Autumn Hambleche Camp again this year. Their grounds are very beautiful and very well appointed. They have taken to the texture of this type of event, so if you are interested renting a great facility to conduct events, workshops or seminars I would like to encourage you to contact them through their website at http://www.zapcom.net/~campnsons.
- The San Geronimo School Board and John Kaufman are opening up their school for us again for the Autumn and Winter sweat lodges. Many thanks to them. I am among the many, many folks who sweated for their first time at the school. This is really hopeful, when a public school is the launching ground for healing as well as knowledge and teaching.
- Bobby Pedro put a few of our community up on the hill in the spring. Tim Lobato put David Rose up on Barry and Bonnie Joyce's property, and by the time you get this, Fred will have held a Hambleche for quite a number of folks in Willits.
- Joe Slattery is awaiting a lung to replace his ailing ones. He is now on "the short list," but please continue to remember him in your prayers. He attributes his extended life to all of our good prayers for him. Also continued prayers for Christine Silva and her health. Bobby Pedro is needing our prayers for strength and health as well; an elder who has contributed so much deserves the best from us.
- As I indicated at the top, this has been a busy seasonand these were only some of the highlights. We are so fortunate to be a part of it all, and I am deeply grateful to be part of a group of folks who are all so involved in this prayer we call Life.
