Odd News and Thanks

[from newsletter 4]

It's been two seasons since we published our last newsletter. Many remarkable events have occurred in that time—recounting them all would be an event in itself. Here are some of the highlights:

Our Southern California sister community "Descendants of the Earth" has moved from the Chorro Grande location and is currently based in Oxnard. Seven Circles is acting as their fiscal sponsor in their fundraising efforts to secure a new land base. If you would like to help them, you can donate through our non-profit foundation.

Chief Luciano Perez was up in the Bay Area in January helping with a Yuwipi Way Ceremony, and a healing prayer for Joe Slattery. This time Cheryl stayed home in preparation for the delivery of their baby daughter Rachel—born a few days after the ceremony. Congratulations!

The Four Nations Sundance has resettled in Yoncalla, Oregon. Tree day this year is July 9. The South Coast Chapter N.A.C.is doing lots of work to prepare the site and sponsor the event. You can give Tim Lobato a call at 541 396 5102 to find out how you can help.

We have also relocated our Vision Quest Site. As you receive this newsletter, at least 17 folks will be "up on the hill" outside of Ukiah. Please remember them in your prayers.

Tohono O'Odham elder Rupert Encinas and his wife were in the area at the end of January helping us with a healing ceremony. He is doing some great tradition revitalization with the children of his community in Arizona through their non-profit "Children First—A'al We Pek". If you would like to help, you can reach them at 520 749 4512.

Arapaho Elder Henry Tyler went to the Spirit World in July. We are among the many who will remember this great man and his good prayer.
